Deaf and ASL Accessible Suicide Loss Support

Survivors of Sibling Suicide, Inc. believes every sibling grieving the suicide loss of a brother or sister deserves the opportunity to find support, connection, and community.

​

As part of our commitment to accessibility and inclusion, SOSS is proud to share and support the Deaf Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Group facilitated by Tarra Grammenos, Mary Karol Matchett, and Jeanny Wooten.

​

This peer led group provides a dedicated space for members of the Deaf community who have experienced a suicide loss to connect with others who understand.

​

SOSS also recognizes that Deaf and hard of hearing siblings may want the opportunity to participate in our sibling specific support communities alongside other surviving siblings.

​

For that reason, SOSS is actively seeking ASL fluent volunteers who may be interested in helping us make our existing Survivors of Sibling Suicide Zoom peer support meetings more accessible to Deaf and hard of hearing siblings.

​

Our goal is choice.

A sibling may feel most supported in a Deaf centered suicide loss community, in a sibling specific SOSS community, or through both.

​

We want siblings to know that those doors can exist side by side.

​

If you are fluent in American Sign Language and would like to volunteer with SOSS to help expand accessibility within our sibling suicide loss support programs, we would love to hear from you.
