SOSS Support Communities and Programs

SOSS offers several international, English-speaking peer-support communities and programs created for adult siblings (18+) and those who support them. Each community and offering is designed to meet people where they are in their grief journey and is grounded in shared lived experience, compassion, remembrance, connection, and hope.

Sibling grief is often overlooked, yet the death of a brother or sister can have a profound and lifelong impact. Whether the loss of your sibling was recent or occurred many decades ago, SOSS exists to ensure siblings have a place where they are seen, understood, and supported.

SOSS support communities and programs include:

  • Private one-to-one peer support is available by Zoom or phone. Siblings may request an individual conversation before attending a group meeting or at any time they need additional support

  • Peer support by phone, text, and email

  • Forever Connected, the SOSS Community Newsletter, sharing SOSS news, events, resources, remembrance opportunities, sibling contributions, and ways to become involved

  • Guest speaker presentations and educational Zoom gatherings, offering information, encouragement, resources, and opportunities for community connection

  • Special holiday support Zoom meetings, created to provide additional connection and understanding during holidays and other emotionally difficult times

  • Celebration of Life Zoom gatherings, offering siblings a meaningful space to honor, remember, and share the lives of their brothers and sisters

Additional special gatherings, educational opportunities, remembrance events, and community activities may be offered throughout the year.

Peer Support and Facilitator Training

SOSS meetings are moderated peer-to-peer gatherings created by siblings for siblings. Our facilitators have also experienced the suicide loss of a sibling, and all members of our facilitation team have completed AFSP’s Suicide Bereavement Support Group Facilitator Training.

SOSS provides support through shared lived experience. Our meetings are not therapy or clinical counseling and are not a replacement for professional mental health care, crisis intervention, or medical treatment.

Your grief matters. Your sibling’s life matters. Your love endures.
